[:en]Skiing fans will be delighted to know that Sierra Nevada ski resort is open – despite current restrictions in Andalucía. Open from December to April, what a privilege to know that Sierra Nevada, our neighbouring ski resort in Granada, is just a 2-hour drive from Marbella.
With spectacular views down to the Granada coastline – on a pristine day, across the Straits of Gibraltar to Africa, now is the time to hit that powdery snow, and sashay down the slopes in the winter sunshine.
The resort has 131 slopes, and a range of 110 kms of pistes, and Sierra Nevada is open to skiers of all abilities, whatever your colour run – red, blue, black or green.
Officially the sunniest ski resort in Europe, Sierra Nevada is renowned as a world-class, high altitude resort, with runs from the peak of the Veleta at 3,300 metres above sea level, traversing down to the lower slopes which sit at 1,200 metres. With some 20 powder-covered peaks to conquer, the resort is well-served with ski lifts and offers a wide range of ski-passes from a half-day (adult ski pass from 52€/day), to a whole season’s pass to fit in with your time on the slopes.
Owing to current Covid restrictions in Andalucía, the resort is committed to offering just 50 per cent capacity,in order to protect the health of skiers and those working in the resort, and is encouraging all skiers to purchase ski-passes on line prior to visits to ensure availability.
With capacity for 8,000 skiers – the Sierra Nevada ski resort has accommodation to suit all budgets, from a bijou studio at 45 euros/per person/per night up to the most luxurious chalet-style suite at an über cool hotel at 500€/per person per night. The ski village is dotted with a variety of restaurants serving staples for skiers, while The Lodge has taken Sierra Nevada cuisine literally to new heights.
Make a reservation to stay through firstname.lastname@example.org Tel: 958 708 09, or simply pre-book your ski-pass on line, rise early, jump in the car, spend a day on the slopes and return to the Coast the same day. The season at Sierra Nevada runs until April.
N.B. Be aware of current restrictions on traveling out of your municipality before organizing your trip to Granada.[:]
